A Day Out at Lochore Meadows Play Park, Fife

If you’re looking for a fantastic, family-friendly outing without spending a fortune, Lochore Meadows in Fife is a top pick. We visited recently and here’s what makes it so special — especially for children, nature lovers, or anyone who just wants to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

What’s Great About It

Inclusive & Accessible Play

The play park at Lochore Meadows is impressively inclusive — it has been designed so children of all abilities can enjoy it. There’s a sensory dome, plenty of equipment covering all ages, with features aimed at being accessible for wheelchairs and easier for all to use. There is also a fence all around the park, so you don't have to worry about your littles ones running off.

Cafe & Facilities

There’s a lovely café — Lochside Café — right by the play park with lovely views of the water. Perfect for a warming drink, a bite to eat, or just to rest while the kids burn off energy. Toilets are available via the Willie Clarke Visitor Centre entrance.

Fairy Trail Walk

One of our favourite bits was exploring the Fairy Trail Fairy Wood. Lovely little fairies, houses, woodland features, wandering paths — great for curious little legs.

Free Entry & Parking

You won’t pay for the entrance, and there are several free car parks. Near the Visitor Centre, there’s a large free car park (with disabled parking too), and another smaller free car park at the North Road entrance.

Lochore Meadows is a gem — especially for families. It offers a lot for free: inclusive play for children of different abilities, beautiful woodlands, water, café and a great fairy trail. Whether you're after burning off some energy, peaceful walk, wildlife watching or just a relaxed day outdoors, it ticks a lot of boxes.

If you’re nearby and thinking of somewhere to take the little ones (or even just need some fresh air yourself), this should definitely be on your list.
